Tiny Copper Ngang Amulet with Bulging Eyes
Encased in an Antique Copper Basket
This is a tiny, bulging-eyed Ngang amulet. If it's an antique Ngang amulet with a bell inside, this is the smallest one you'll find. The bell rings normally, and the amulet is in good, old condition.
The "basket" style casing (especially using copper or wire) is one of the oldest methods of preserving and wearing amulets in Thailand, predating the modern waterproof plastic casings.
Middle Period (approximately 50-70 years ago / around 1947-1967)
Characteristics: Copper sheets began to be cut, carved, or folded into more intricate basket-like shapes.
Age Observation: Copper from this period shows clear signs of aging, including:
Pitling rust or oxide stains: The copper turns a dark brown, dull color, or develops a green patina in the crevices.
Wear marks: After prolonged use, the wire or basket edges will be rounded and naturally worn.
The Ngang amulet embodies the enigmatic concept of imperfection in physical beauty... But it possesses surpassing all others in power and sacredness; there's no need to worry about its potency. "If the Phra Ngang amulet wasn't truly powerful and effective, it wouldn't have enjoyed its reputation for hundreds of years." It is the ultimate charm amulet of all eras.
