Red-Eyed Ngang (Monkey Face)

This is a used red-eyed Ngang amulet with a bell inside. It's an antique, from the era when it was melted in a charcoal furnace. The unstable heat caused the metal components not to mix 100%, and over time, some metal elements separated, creating a natural mesh-like pattern. The surface is old, dry, and faded, with the mesh pattern covering the entire amulet. Early Ngang amulets often show thick, coarse filing marks with widely spaced lines (these must be old and faded like in the image, indicating long handling). The angle of the headdress on some early Ngang amulets varies; this type is very rare. This particular type is also larger than typical red-eyed monkey-faced Ngang amulets.
